Bible Passage for 1/15/07 Week

Here is the Scripture passage that I am memorizing for this week:

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:1-3

I have heard these verses read at funeral services many times, and have also seen them written in sympathy cards. However, I don’t think that they are just applicable at times of grief. We can feel troubled during many situations during our lives and need comforting. What could possibly be more comforting than knowing that our Lord is preparing a place for us with him in heaven? Believers are going to spend eternity in heaven with Christ our Lord! No matter what we are facing during our earthly lives, we have that to look forward to!

Christmas Pictures

This is my brother with the little one. They have a lot of fun together!

Enjoying Christmas dinner at Mamaw's house....

Here's me with my little sweetie as he opens a package at Mamaw's house Christmas morning. He was getting sleey since it was after lunch time, so the pacifier was nevessary to avert whininess. (Perhaps I need to get myself a pacifier for that same purpose...)

This is my mom (Mamaw) sitting in the reading chair with Ian. She reads to him a lot. He makes her read to him a lot. He LOVES books!

Bible Verse for 1/8 Week

Here is the verse of Scripture that I am memorizing this week:

“Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by doing so people have entertained angels without knowing it.” Hebrews 13:2

This concept just amazes me, and I try to stay aware of it at all times.

Political Rambling

I guess that I have never been much of a political person – I have just never felt very strongly either way (Democrat vs Republican). My parents were not strongly political either. However, I am married to a man who is definitely NOT Republican!!! He doesn’t necessarily admit to being a Democrat either, but he has strong Democratic leanings. He is very anti-Bush. I’m not pro-Bush; I just feel that he is a somewhat feeble-minded man with friends in high places. He’s made some pretty boneheaded decisions.

So why all of this talk about politics?? Today the new Democratic majorities are being placed into office in Washington, and I’m curious to see how it will all play out. I’m happy to see a woman as Speaker of the House – That’s cool. I’m happy when I read that Bob Corker is at the bottom of the totem pole in the Senate – Not only will he have to sit in the very back, but he may have to sweep up at the end of each day too!! I’m just not a big Corker fan…

I will be interested to see who runs for President, both on the Republican and the Democratic side. I don’t think that the country is ready for an African-American President named Obama. I’m also not sure that America is ready for a female President (sorry Hillary), though we are closer to it than we have ever been. I tend to believe that the country as a whole would be better under Democratic direction. Looking back, things were actually pretty good during the Clinton administration, though I was not entirely comfortable with having a President with the morals of an alley cat…

Bible Verse for 1/1 Week

Happy New Year!!! I’m feeling very enthusiastic about this new year – It’s gonna be a great one for sure!!!

One of my resolutions is to memorize one bible verse each week this year, and I’m going to post them here on the blog.

Here is the verse for this week:

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:13)
