How to Hug A Baby

(This is cute, but a little bit disturbing.... This is not my baby or my dog!!!! I got this on an email!!)

*ATTENTION ALL DOGS!!! **

THE FOLLOWING ARE IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR EVERY DOG TO KNOW

Instructions for properly hugging a baby.

1. First, spy a baby.

2. Second, be sure that the object you spied was indeed a baby by employing classic sniffing techniques. If you smell baby powder and the wonderful aroma of wet diapers this is indeed a baby.

3. Next you will need to flatten the baby before actually beginning the hugging process.

**Note: The added slobber should help in future steps by making the "pawslide" easier.

4. The "paw slide"Simply slide paws around baby and prepare for possible close-up.

5. Finally, if a camera is present, you will need to execute the difficult and patented "hug, smile, and lean" so as to achieve the best photo quality.

Dogs, if this is properly done, it will secure you a warm, dry,climate-controlled environment for the rest of your life.

Things That Make Me Happy

Ian’s crooked smile. I don’t know why he has it and I don’t care – I love it!

Outside temperatures in the 60’s-70’s – Like today! Feels wonderful!

My close relationship with God.

The comfortable marriage that Mike and I share together – He is my soul mate and my very bestest friend.

The fact that my Mom is helping us so much with Ian – I know that she did a beautiful job raising my brother and I, so I am very thankful that Ian is getting to benefit from being with her too!

Chocolate in almost any form makes me very happy. However, I’m not really a huge fan of dark chocolate, but I will eat it if that is all that is around.

Ian’s giggle.

Friday evenings really make me happy – That’s my favorite time of the week!

Family outings, even if it is just a trip to the mall and dinner out.

Actually, eating out in general, whether with the family or by myself…

Long afternoon naps.

“And they all lived happily ever after.”

Positive feedback from the boss.

Spending time with my Mom.

Realizing when I do things like my Mom.

Realizing that I’m turning into my Mom.

When Mike cooks.

Checking off something on my to-do list.

Marking something off my to-do list because I decided that I don’t need to do it after all.

Reading a really good book.

Going to lunch with my friends and gabbing.

Taking a walk on a nice day.

Looking at pictures of family and friends.

I already mentioned chocolate, right?

Just Rambling....

Gosh, I don’t know if anyone ever even reads this thing since I don’t keep it updated as I should , but I’ll ramble on for a while anyway just in case… Anyone out there????? Hellooooo??????

I know that I posted a while back about my big plans to have beautiful flower beds this year and how I was going to post pictures of them periodically… My follow-through is terrible…. However, I actually have been working on the flower beds, and they are looking pretty good!! I pruned my roses a little too early and they ended up really getting nipped by the late frost, but only one of them seems to have suffered permanently. I don’t think that I will replace it until next year just in case it decides to wake up later. Some of them are actually going to be blooming soon!

In addition to the roses, my pie plate hibiscus are coming up, at least several of them. I have a few that are now in too much shade because their neighboring bushes have gotten too big – I really need to move them. I cannot wait until they bloom because they are so big and dramatic – I hope that there is enough rain to keep them pretty this year.

I have even managed to plant some bedding plants – marigolds, geraniums, lantana, and some sort of fuzzy blue flowers. And I’m keeping them watered and most of them alive so far!

Ian continues to do marvelously well, and he is such a joy!!! He is still talking more and more. Yesterday was Mike’s birthday, and I got Ian to say “birthday”. Then he started saying “birthday cake” all on his own! He got very upset when Daddy got a present but he didn’t!! He kept saying “present” over and over… Poor little guy… He continues to sleep well and eat well. We are very blessed indeed.

10 Commandments for "Working Hard"

I'm totally not feeling like working today, so I found this in my old emails:

George Costanza:
10 commandments for ‘working hard’:

1. Never walk without a document in your hands

People with documents in their hands look like hardworking employees heading for important meetings. People with nothing in their hands look like they're heading for the cafeteria. People with a newspaper in their hand look like they're heading for the toilet. Above all, make sure you carry loads of stuff home with you at night, thus generating the false impression that you work longer hours than you do.

2. Use computers to look busy

Any time you use a computer, it looks like "work" to the casual observer. You can send and receive personal e-mail, chat and generally have a blast without doing anything remotely related to work. These aren't exactly the societal benefits that the proponents of the computer revolution would like to talk about but they're not bad either. When you get caught by your boss - and you *will* get caught -- your best defense is to claim you're teaching yourself to use new software, thus saving valuable training dollars.

3. Messy desk

Top management can get away with a clean desk. For the rest of us, it looks like we're not working hard enough. Build huge piles of documents around your workspace. To the observer, last year's work looks the same as today's work; it's volume that counts. Pile them high and wide. If you know somebody is coming to your cubicle, bury the document you'll need halfway down in an existing stack and rummage for it when he/she arrives.

4. Voice Mail

Never answer your phone if you have voice mail. People don't call you just because they want to give you something for nothing - they call because they want YOU to do work for THEM. That's no way to live. Screen all your calls through voice mail. If somebody leaves a voice mail message for you and it sounds like impending work, respond during lunch hour when you know they're not there - it looks like you're hardworking and conscientious even though you're being a devious weasel.

5. Looking Impatient and Annoyed

According to George Costanza, one should also always try to look impatient and annoyed to give your bosses the impression that you are always busy.

6. Leave the office late

Always leave the office late, especially when the boss is still around. You could read magazines and storybooks that you always wanted to read but have no time until late before leaving. Make sure you walk past the boss' room on your way out. Send important emails at unearthly hours (e.g. 9:35pm, 7:05am, etc.) and during public holidays.

7. Creative Sighing for Effect

Sigh loudly when there are many people around, giving the impression that you are under extreme pressure.

8. Stacking Strategy

It is not enough to pile lots of documents on the table. Put lots of books on the floor etc. (thick computer manuals are the best).

9. Build Vocabulary

Read up on some computer magazines and pick out all the jargon and new products. Use the phrases freely when in conversation with bosses. Remember: They don't have to understand what you say, but you sure sound impressive.

10. MOST IMPORTANT:

DON'T forward this to your boss by mistake!!!

Words to live by!
